Congratulations! It’s great that you found your new best friend when you obtained your personal protection dogs. However, with that new friendship come issues that the responsible dog owner must resolve. Personal protection dogs plus other breeds are living creatures that sometimes attract little parasites and health issues.

Alas, there exists a common grocery product that is so multi-faceted and useful that there have been entire books written about it. This product is Apple Cider Vinegar, which is also known as ACV. ACV has proven useful in myriad ways such as Human health, house cleaning, automotive remedies, cooking, and most importantly, this amazing liquid can become your favorite asset — inside and out — for your new protection dog.

Ease Your Best Friend’s Itching and Scratching

Dogs are susceptible to itchy skin year-round, but especially so during the summer. Contact dermatitis and the elements play havoc with the skin beneath their coat. Simply make a 50/50 mix of apple cider vinegar with distilled water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray your pet liberally from head to toe, taking care to avoid the eyes and nose. Do not spray into any open wounds as this will burn the skin. It is also effective to simply add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon to your pet’s food or water. This works by developing a more acidic environment in your dog’s internal chemistry; invasive yeast leaves because it does not enjoy the acidity. ACV by ingestion is more helpful for yeast issues than for poison ivy or contact dermatitis. Once it has dried, the topical remedy has little to no odor, unlike chemical remedies available at the store.

Fight Your Protection Dogs’ Greatest Nemeses

This same 50/50 mixture can be sprayed onto your friend’s coat to repel ticks and fleas. If you would like to add a little extra guard via the inside, add two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to your dog’s water or food during the height of tick and flea season.

Note: It goes without saying that every pet owner should monitor their pet’s reaction to these treatments not only the first time they are applied but also each subsequent time. It is highly unlikely that your pet will be allergic to ACV but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Instead of using an expensive commercial cream rinse on your pet, try this simple three-part mixture as an after-bath rinse. Mix 1/2 cup ACV and 1/2 cup cooled brewed green tea with 1 cup distilled water. Pour the mixture onto your pet after their bath and massage it into their skin (which they will likely enjoy). You may then choose to rinse and pat dry or leave the mixture on to dry for added flea retardant benefit.

Dogs Have Ears, Too, Complete with Earwax!

Although it may not be a pleasant task, it is a good idea to check your fur baby’s ears daily for ear wax, gunk, and insects that might have been impervious to the ACV bath. At least once a week, it is recommended by many veterinarians to dip cotton balls in a 50/50 mixture of apple cider vinegar and purified water before using one to gently wipe out your baby’s ears.

Obtain Your Miracle Ingredient Now!

Please note that it is imperative to use pure organic, raw, unfiltered Apple Cider Vinegar instead of the least expensive form available in the grocery. The best place to find it is on the internet, at health food stores, and from some large retailers. Do not use regular white vinegar for these remedies.

These ACV solutions work well on any breed of protection dog. It is not necessary to buy expensive flea, tick repellants, ear mite treatments, canine dermatitis solutions, or after-shampoo conditioners. This is significant because you can defer those funds into edible canine treats or activities for you and your personal protection dogs or your tiny teacup baby that sleeps on your Grandma’s lap!
